Neeb Karori Ashram and Maharaj-ji's Cave
Neeb Karori, Uttar Pradesh, India
This village is closely bound to Maharaj-ji's story: his familiar names Neem Karoli and Neeb Karori come from it. According to the Taos ashram's history, he lived here as a sadhu for roughly twenty years, until about 1938. The ashram and cave lie off the more traveled pilgrim routes of Uttar Pradesh. The Hanuman temple holds a murti the same account says Maharaj-ji made with his own hands. Nearby Lakshmandas Puri railway station is associated with the well-known story of Maharaj-ji and a train. These are parts of the site's devotional history, not a promise of visitor facilities; check locally before traveling.
